It’s wintertime and the flying squirrels are looking for a warm, cozy place to spend the winter. These gliding rodents can glide several hundred feet in a single leap, giving the illusion that they are flying. They are group nesters; in the wild, this means that they can huddle together in a tree cavity for warmth. In your house, this means even more damage than a single squirrel can create.
Rodents, Teeth and Chewing
All rodents are born with a pair of extra-strong front teeth that are designed specifically for gnawing. If you don’t give them something to gnaw on, in fact, the teeth will overgrow to the point that they are uncomfortable for the rodent. So all animals in the rodent family will constantly gnaw to prevent this. Wood is a favorite substance to choose, which puts your home’s aesthetics and structure at risk.
Expensive Cleanup
Not only is the noise that they make annoying, but attic squirrels can make a big mess. They can chew your wood, urinate and defecate on your insulation, making it useless and dropping your air quality. They can chew wiring and put your home at risk of fire.
